The yearning to capture nature makes a safe investment

Dear Art Friends,

Flores and Blossoms – imitated and portrayed by masters in every media seemed to be the running theme to this Autumns Auction (17-19 Sept). A knockout hit for buyers!

In the Fine Arts Dept a prime example being the top sum of 24,000 Euros reached by „Still life with flowers and Butterflies“. This artwork created in the “Golden” 17th Century by the Dutch artist Martinus Nellius (Lot Number 2283) shows just how sought after this piece was by bidders from Germany and Holland. The work finally being bought by a Luxemburg Art Lover who managed to hold his breath the longest. Also much sought after was Franz Grässels “Idyll with duck pond in picturesque setting” (Lot number 2382). The reserve price of 2,500 was finally quadrupled, due to the bidding war in the Auction room. The symbol of nature and youth by Marie Ellenrieders “Beautiful Youth“(Lot numbers 2307 and 2308) was also a hit. The tempting starting price of 750 Euros made for exciting bidding in the auction room but it was finally left to a dual between two telephone bidders. The successful being an American collector who acquired both pieces for the proud sums of 10,000 and 11,000 Euros.

The highest price reached in the Jewelry and Precious Gems Dept was for an impressive necklace of precious stones in floral and leaf form with over 200 carats (Lot number 1505).This exquisite piece now adorns the neck of a German owner for the princely sum of 19,500 Euro.

An unusual example of German Classic porcelain also awakened much interest. The Tea/Coffee Service from the  Illmenauer factory in Sepia colored decoration depicting Monuments in the Landscape, with the inscription “What is nicer than to look back” was promptly answered by a German bidder with “Mine forever!” and bought for 7,500 Euros.
